Founder’s Award
Launching the Founder’s Award
This is year we saw the sad demise of our Founder and in his honour we are will be launching the Founder’s Award. This programme will be available to children ages 15+to recognise their excellence in co-curricular activities. The Award will cover:
Sports
Excellence in one or more sporting activity: a pupil should show regular participation and knowledge of one game alongside trying to achieve membership of the school sporting team. Special recognition will be given for pupils who achieve entry to State and National level playing in one sport.
Music
Achievement in one or more instrument, including attempting Trinity College Exams at Grade 5 level for western music and any similar Exams for Indian Music. For this the student should show consistent engagement in one or more instruments over a period of time.
Dance
Achievement in learning Bharatanatyam to Arangetram level. Special recognition for pupils who successfully graduate through arangetram.
Other Activities
We will include other organised group or individual physical or volunteering activities.
Hiking the Nagarmalai Hills:
We have four hills or four peaks within easy reach of our school. This year our Physical Education department will be exploring these hills, looking at climbing the hills when the seasons allow it. Reaching the top of these hills will be our mission. Students who wish to take part should be able to learn how to hike up the hills, and challenge themselves to hike more than one hill, if appropriate for their level.
These are new ideas, and we would like children to participate to build up this programme so that we can offer this to more children in the years to come.
Volunteering and Community Engagement:
The children will be given a number of opportunities to develop life skills by taking part in activities within the school campus. The school is also working on starting the National Cadet Corps.
